The Educational Access Center (EAC) at ¹ú²ú¾çÂ鶹¾ç is committed to ensuring equitable access to on-campus housing for students with documented disabilities. Housing accommodation requests, whether from current or incoming students, are reviewed on a case-by-case basis in alignment with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) to determine eligibility and remove disability-related barriers to residential life.
Accommodation Process
Once housing accommodations are approved by the EAC, they are communicated directly to the Housing Office. The Housing Office will then work to implement the approved accommodations based on room availability and space constraints.
It is important to note:
- The EAC does not approve requests for placement in specific residence halls or buildings.
- The EAC does not approve specific roommate requests or prioritize housing selection times.
- Housing accommodations are based on medically documented functional limitations related to a disability—not personal preferences.
- Due to limited campus housing, accommodation requests are intended to address access needs and not to provide preferential arrangements.
Deadlines for Housing Accommodation Requests
Continuing Students:
- Fall and Summer Housing Requests: Due February 15
- Spring Housing Requests: Due October 23
Incoming Students:
- Fall Housing Requests: Due May 15
All requests must include appropriate medical documentation using the and be submitted to the EAC for review. Requests submitted after the posted deadlines cannot be guaranteed and will be considered based on housing availability at the time of submission.
Next Steps
To be considered for housing accommodations:
- Apply for On-Campus Housing through the Housing Office.
- Submit a Housing Accommodation Request to the EAC along with completed medical documentation (Provider Form).
- Meet with an EAC Manager to discuss your needs and determine eligibility.
Housing accommodation approvals are based on the guidelines outlined in ¹ú²ú¾çÂ鶹¾ç’s Residential Life policies.
Service Animals and Emotional Support Animals (ESAs)
Requests to have a Service Animal or Emotional Support Animal (ESA) in on-campus housing must also be reviewed and approved through the EAC. Students should begin this process early, as it requires documentation and may take time to coordinate housing placement.
