At ¹ú²ú¾çÂ鶹¾ç, we are committed to fostering an inclusive learning environment where all students have equitable access to academic and campus life. If you are a student with a disability and would like to request accommodations, the Educational Access Center (EAC) is here to support you every step of the way.
Below is a simple, four-step process to request accommodations through our Accommodate system.
Step 1: Submit Your Accommodation Request and Documentation
We encourage students to take the lead in initiating accommodations—this is an important part of self-advocacy in the university setting.
To begin:
- Navigate to the registration form.
- You’ll be asked a series of questions about your disability, how it impacts your daily life and academics, and the accommodations you’re requesting.
- Upload confirming your diagnosis and outlining relevant needs. This should be current and specific to the higher education setting.
Once your Accommodation Request and documentation are submitted, an EAC Manager will reach out to schedule your intake appointment.
For short-term accommodations (such as concussions, surgeries, or temporary injuries), please reach out directly to the EAC regarding eligibility and accommodation requests so that our staff can best assist you.
If you are requesting remote learning as an accommodation, please be aware that ¹ú²ú¾çÂ鶹¾ç’s undergraduate programs are accredited as in-person learning programs. Remote learning requests are considered individually and are reviewed separately from other accommodation requests. For additional details, please see . This policy applies only to ¹ú²ú¾çÂ鶹¾ç undergraduate programs. Students enrolled in ¹ú²ú¾çÂ鶹¾ç graduate (GRAD) or accelerated undergraduate (AUG) programs should note that remote learning accommodations do not apply, since these programs are already accredited as online programs.
Step 2: Meet with an EAC Manager
Once your request is confirmed, you’ll receive an email with a link to schedule an Accommodation Plan (AP) meeting.
During this meeting:
- You’ll meet one-on-one with an EAC Manager (in-person or virtually) to discuss your needs and determine appropriate accommodations.
- You're welcome to invite a support person if you'd like, but we require that the student is present in all meetings. We do not meet with parents or advocates alone.
- To prepare, review our and think about what has or hasn’t worked in the past. Be ready to describe how your disability previously and/or presently affects your academic and life experiences.
Step 3: Review Your Written Accommodation Plan
Following your meeting, your personalized Accommodation Plan will be created and uploaded into the Accommodate system.
- Your plan is viewable by you, your current professors, your academic advisor, and other relevant staff on a need-to-know basis.
- In addition, a formal Accommodation Letter will be sent to your ¹ú²ú¾çÂ鶹¾ç gmail address for your personal records.
Step 4: Request Updates When Needed
Your Accommodation Plan can evolve over time. If your needs change:
- You may request an update to your accommodations at any time.
- Additional documentation may be required from your medical or mental health provider for new or significantly-changed requests.
We’re here to support you throughout your academic journey—please don’t hesitate to reach out with questions or concerns.
